Sierra-Tuolumne Kennel Club General membership meeting September 17, 2001 Acting President, Fred Helmbold at 6:00 p.m, called the meeting of the Sierra-Tuolumne Kennel Club to order. This month’s meeting was held at the home of Linda Grant. Members present were: Bruce, Ann Brown, Holly & Mark Azevedo, Fred & Pat, Sharlene, Carol & Gordon, Lindsay, Cherie, Nancy, Patti, Al & Mary, Mary Phoenix, Dorothy, Minou , and Sydney. There was a moment of silence in remembrance of all who lost their lives and to all those affected by the terrible events of last Tuesday. This month’s guests were AJ Ford and his Chocolate Labrador Retriever, Riggs. AJ and Riggs are part of Tuolumne County’s 1st Drug Detection team, and they gave a demonstration. AJ also discussed what Riggs does during an actual search assignment. Another guest was Mary Alford, who has Miniature Schnauzers. Secretary’s Report – Linda: Sharlene presented the report of the Board of Directors meeting. Treasurer’s Report – Sherry: no report Nominating Committee 2002 – Cherie: Her Committee Members are Holly, Ann, Sydney, with Bruce and Nancy as alternates. Committee Reports – Obedience – Sherry: no report Agility – Linda: Classes are continuing, with Fun Runs following obedience. Education – Carol: no report Publicity – Sydney: great paper and radio coverage of the trial. Therapy – Jo/Carol: no report Historian – Cherie: all up to date. Sunshine – Jo: no report Membership – vacant: Pat Helmbold will take over. Old Business – Update on AKC Agility trial – Sherry: no report, except for a partial spreadsheet provided via email to Linda. AKC Conformation Show – Sherry: no report New Business – Request for Special Board Meeting-Fred: to be held October 5, 5:00 p.m. at Linda Grant’s home. Holiday Party – Fred: Will be held on December 17 at the Peppery with a no host bar. Three items, plus one vegetarian dish were selected. Invites will be mailed with a RSVP deadline of 12/1 to Linda. One guest per member. It was M/S/P by Cherie/Nancy to proceed with making arrangements. Brags – Ann & Holly (Golden Retriever): 9 High Combineds, 2 High in Trials, 87 OTCH points Cherie & Moon (Aussie): In NADAC agility needs only 2 more Gamblers leg for NATCH; in ASCA has Outstanding Elite Jumpers title, has been in the ASCA Agility Merit Program for three years as the only Veteran. Cherie & Mori (Aussie): Has AKC Open title; 1st Excellent A leg; Open JWW title; in NADAC/ASCA has Open Regular title. Sharlene reported that Schoena had 4 Q’s at our trial. Minou & Rosie & Zoe (Newfoundland): Rosie and Zoe provide daily support and comfort to Minou Sydney & Tess (Aust. Cattle Dog): Rec’d 2nd AKC Novice leg; and at Carson City rec’d 2nd Open NADAC leg. Fred & Pat and Abby (Bernese Mtn Dog): Came back with an OFA Good evaluation! Fred/Pat and Nancy (Bernese Mtn. Dog): Nancy was a "Cover Girl" on some note cards, with candid images. It was M/S/P by Nancy/Sharlene to adjourn at 7:45 p.m. to BBQ’d hamburgers and teriaki chicken strips. Next month’s meeting – October 15, 2001 at the home of Ann and Ken Brown.
