General Meeting Minutes

October 15, 2001

Acting President, Fred Helmbold, called the meeting of the Sierra-Tuolumne Kennel Club to order at 6:00 p.m. Ann and Ken Brown hosted this month’s meeting.

Members present were: Fred & Pat, Linda, Cherie, Mark & Holly, Al & Mary, Lindsay, Bruce, Sydney, Patti, Nancy, Minou, and Charlene Bertelli.

Guests present were Mary Alford and Janie Azevedo.

The Members present unanimously voted in Peggy Rissel (Border Collies) as a new member.

General Announcements – Fred: He read a letter from Carol and Gordon Biedermann announcing their resignation from the Club. The Biedermann’s will uphold their commitments to the Big Show next month. Fred also noted that all Board Meetings are open to all STKC members as observers.

The order of Meeting Business was rearranged tonight to ensure that items were given sufficient discussion time.

Old Business – AKC Show Trial, November 10/1:

Show Chair, Linda Grant; Fred as Co-Chair

Committee Heads will meet at Linda Grant’s home on Monday, October 29 at 6:00 p.m. to finalize areas of the show. They are: Linda, Fred, Cherie, Bruce, Mark, Nancy, Lindsay, Holly and anyone else who would like to attend.

Friday (11/9) setup starts at 8:30 with Fred’s crew. We’ll need helpers to set up the inside rings, tables.

Saturday and Sunday report times are 6:00 a.m. sharp. Equipment needs to be placed at ringside.

Dress code will be slacks (no denim jeans), with the Club colors, if possible. Dress warmly, if sitting, bring a cushion.

Attitudes need to be "Up", put on a smile. Report any abuse, unsafe situations/hazards.

Keep receipts for purchases, mark them with your name, "what for" and turn into Mark.

Committee reports –

Stewards – Linda: All stewards recruited.

Judges – Linda: All have been notified of the change. Aladdin has been notified of their room needs.

Judge’s Room Hospitality – Lindsay/Pat: taken care of

Judges Dinner – Lindsay: It was M/S/P by Linda/Cherie to move to the Sonora Oaks and let Lindsay make the dinner item selections.

Trophies – Lindsay/Holly: Lindsay updated everyone on changes.

Parking – Bruce: Moose Lodge will assist. Gordon will assist on Thursday to mark off the RV spots.

Vendors – Linda: Sherry’s list shows she sent out over 50 invites. Six have been returned, with a 11/2/01 deadline

RV Parking – Linda: as of Friday we have 25 signed up.

Obedience – Cherie: New obedience equipment has arrived. Baby gates will need to be set up on Friday.

Catalog sales – Bruce: Will do at Gate. Needs helpers.

Catalog ads – all sent off to MB-F

Judges’ Lunches – Lindsay/Pat: they will do cold cuts, etc. Mary and Sydney will be runners.

Decorations – Nancy: all set

Education – Carol: she will set it up on Friday and take it down on Sunday.

Show Chair – Linda: I could use an assistant.

Vendors – Fred/Bruce: Linda will provide a list of what they need and size.

President’s Report on the Status the Club – Fred:

Board meeting on 10/5/01 at Linda Grant’s home. Officers present were: Fred, Linda, Cherie. Nominated BOD present were: Mark Azevedo, Bruce Bertholf, Lindsay Stark. Pat Helmbold was a guest.

Since there was not a quorum, the following recommendations were presented to the General Membership:

1 It is M/S/P by Pat/Nancy to discontinue the watering of the lower yard at the Galka’s and the rental of the storage shed effective 11/1/01, for a total of $75.00

2. It was M/S/P by Nancy/Bruce to rent a storage shed for storage of Club items. Bruce will take action to get the shed.

3. It was M/S/P by Nancy/Al to appoint Mark Azevedo to the Treasurer’s position and Cherie Gessford as Vice President until elections in January.

Other items to report to the General Membership:

1. New address of P. O. Box 1256, Soulsbyville, CA 95372

2. Change of address cards have been submitted.

3. Bank accounts are being changed.

4. Check book & other books to be retrieved on Wednesday, 10/18.

5. Two trailers and canopies have been retrieved and are temporarily at Lindsay Stark’s home. Sound system and obedience items at Fred’s

5. Retrieval of balance of items is scheduled for Saturday, October 27 at 9:00 at the Galka’s. We will need pickup trucks to retrieve the obedience and agility equipment, books, clothing, etc.

6. One pink slip has been signed over to STKC with Linda’s address.

7. The Galka’s are now advertising Puppy, Basic & Intermediate obedience lessons. Flyers were handed out discreetly to certain students at the 10/10/01 obedience session.

8. Awaiting insurance quotes for new club insurance.

Secretary’s Report – Linda:

A plaque was passed around that will be sent to Don Leonard as a thank you for his years as Vice President.

AKC & MB-F have been notified of changes.

Nomination letters for the 2002-2003 Board of Officers & Directors has been mailed.

Treasurer’s Report – Vacant:

No official report. Mark Azevedo has been voted in as interim Treasurer.

James Maltese, CPA, is performing a complete audit of STKC books.

A meeting with James will be held on Thursday, November 15 at 6:00, location will be Linda Grant’s.

Obedience – Linda: Graduation is Wednesday, October 17 at 5:15 p.m. Microchipping at 5:30.

Agility – Linda: Graduation will be Tuesday, October 16th.

Publicity – Sydney: great job on publicity items for shows.

Brags – Due to the impact of the Upcoming Show, I will have to post the Brags in next Month’s Howler!

Next Month’s meeting – Ed & Nancy Wyllie, November 19, 6:00 p.m.

December will be the Holiday Party. Invitations will be mailed to all members.

Cherie Gessford will host the January 2002 meeting.
