Maple Baked Onions

-6 large sweet onions, sliced 1/2 inch thick (must use sweet onions, like Walla Walla or Mayan Sweets)
-1/3 Cup 100% maple syrup
-1/4 Cup butter or margarine, melted

Layer onions in a greased 13-in. x 9-in. x 2-in. baking dish.  Combine syrup and butter; pour over onions.  Bake, uncovered, at 425 degrees for 40-45 minutes, or until tender.  Yield 8-10 servings.
