General Membership Meeting – October 21, 2002 President Linda Grant called the meeting of the Sierra-Tuolumne Kennel Club to order at 6:00 pm. This months meeting was held at the home of Al and Mary Kennedy. Members present were: Linda Grant, Cherie Gessford, Lindsay Stark, Fred & Pat Helmbold, Bruce Bertholf, Mary & Al Kennedy, Patti Martlew, Sydney Seiver, Nancy Wylie, Ann Brown, Minou Alexander Guests Present: Jo Ann Gritz , Rudy and Carol Leeman, Jim and Carol Frazier PRESIDENT’S REPORT-Linda: At the last Board Meeting it was voted that the club would have a perpetual plaque hung at the Humane Society in honor of members who have passed. In addition a $500.00 donation will be made to the Spay/Neuter program in their honor. Fred Helmbold showed the plaque and came up with a very nice design. SECRETARY’S REPORT-Lindsay: The flag for members to hang in front of their houses for the meetings has been ordered. We will have it in time for the next meeting. The Breeders Directory needs to be updated and I need everyone’s help. If you know of reputable breeders for your chosen breed, please get their current information and provide it to me, so that it can be listed in the new edition. Member applications were read for Jo Ann Gritz, Jim and Carol Frazier and Rudy and Carol Leeman. TREASURER’S REPORT-Fred: Finances are down at the moment due to expenses for the Bog Show. COMMITTEE UPDATES OBEDIENCE, PUPPY-Lindsay: We have 7 students for the winter class. AGILITY-Linda: Graduation will be October 31. SUNSHINE-Holly: Mynde Bunker passed away. PUBLICITY: The big show has been in the papers. Constitution/Bylaws-Lindsay: AKC sent their approval pending a few minor changes. These will be made and presented to the Board for their approval and then voted on by the General Membership. TROPHY-Holly: If you have not already paid for your trophy donations for the Big Show, please contact Holly ASAP. MISCELLANEOUS: Name-tags were handed out and new patches arrived for members who have gained titles over the summer. UPCOMING EVENTS BIG SHOW November-Linda: Judges arrangements have all been made. Sue O’Brien volunteered to transport several judges from the Sacramento airport. The Aladdin has been reserved and paid for. The judges’ dinner will be at the Oaks room behind the Sonora Oaks Best Western Hotel. No-host bar opens at 6:30, dinner will be served at 7:00 pm. All members who help at the show are encouraged to come. Please contact Lindsay to sign up 984-4034 The Education Booth will be set up by Rudy and Carol Leeman. The Parking Crew will be assisted by the Moose Lodge again this year. There will be someone at the gate starting Friday at 12:00 until approximately 10:00pm. The crew needs to be there at 6:00 am on Saturday and Sunday and will work until approximately 3:00pm both days. If you can help, please call Mark Azevedo at 586-2012. We will have 4 golf carts available to assist with parking and any running around that needs to be done. 1 cart will be exclusively for the obedience area. The judges/workers breakfast and lunch will be in the Betting room. Sourdough pancakes, bagels, donuts etc. for breakfast and will start at 7:00 am. Lunch will be cold cuts for sandwiches, soups and salad and will start at 11:00. Runners will serve beverages to the judges and ring crew throughout the day. The dress code is neat and clean, no jeans and no club shirts. If possible, club colors are forest green and gold. Please layer clothes and be prepared for rain. (Pray for sun) SET UP: Friday at 8:30 Fred’s crew will arrive to do the heavy work. Please come and help in any way you can. Please be on site by 6:30 am both days depending on your job. BRAGS Bruce and Velvet (Doberman): GRP I and II at Black Mountain KC (Henderson, NV) Q’d in open STD and went BISS at the specialty in Del valleBruce and Dexi: Earned pre-trial Herding title Lindsay and Becca (Pembroke Welsh Corgi): Earned 2 firsts in Open STD winning 2 pewter plates at the Nationals in Oregon. First in STD and JWW winning 2 glass Corgi motif Suncatchers at the PWCCSC Specialty in So. Cal. Lindsay and Tobey (Pembroke Welsh Corgi): Very late brag the she earned her Novice Jumpers title back in June. Cherie and Mori (Australian Shepherd): 3 Q’s in Elite Jumpers Cheri and Moon (Australian Shepherd): Earned 15 Q’s in the last month. O-V-NATCH 2. She was presented with her First NATCH plaque. Sydney and Tess (Australian Cattle Dog): at the Angels Camp Wag n’ Walk games took 1st place for most sits in 1 minute and 2nd for the fastest recall. Sydney and Miles (Border Collie): 1st place for catching the most treats in 30 seconds, 1st in the tail wag, 1st in the obstacle coarse for fastest time. Patti and Holli (Australian Shepherd): Earned her Novice Gamblers title. Mark and Bella (Pembroke Welsh Corgi): Earned her Novice Agility title and got the USDAA gamble. Holly and Kody (Pembroke Welsh Corgi): 1st leg in USDAA standard and got the Gamble Fred and Yogi (Bernese Mountain Dog): Best Opposite Linda and Dexi (Australian Shepherd): Conformation: Got his last points for his Championship. Way to go you two. All points were earned with Linda handling. Linda and Pandi (Australian Shepherd ) – 5 Q’s in agility at Del ValleNancy and Astro (Chocolate Lab)- New puppy added to the family. Congratulations to all of the club members. It was M/S/P by Bruce/Nancy to adjourn at 8:10 pm. November meeting is at Minou Alexander’s home.
