General Membership Meeting

Meeting called to order by President Linda Grant at 6:05 PM

Members present: Linda Grant, Cherie Gessford, Bruce Bertholf, Fred and Pat Helmbold, Ann Brown, Sydney Seiver, Patti Martlew,

Al and Mary Kennedy, Jo-Ann Gritz, Pat Barnes, Carol Frazier, Charlene Craig, Holly Azevedo.

The Big Show

Entries have closed. We have 704 on Saturday, and 746 on Sunday. There are fewer dogs than entries as some dogs are entered twice, such Conformation and Obedience.

We should show up at 6:30 AM, as the show starts at 8:30 AM.

Judges – Linda has all judges. One judge had a conflict, so conflict breeds were moved to other judges, and another judge has been hired for her Non-Sporting Group.

Judges Arrangements – Linda/Fred; Aladdin reservations have been made.

Judges Dinner – Fred: Will be at the Peppery Gar and Brill. The house special will be served. Time will be announced later, but probable about 6:30 PM.

Best of Breed Medallions – Linda: This year the medallions are punched into a card with congratulations on it. This is more professional.

Conformation Stewards – Linda: NORCAL Stewards Club will be doing it again. All arrangements are made.

Obedience Stewards – Cherie: Have two professional stewards, with Patti and Sydney volunteering from the Club.

On Site Parking – Al/Bruce: Moose Club has declined at this late time. We need club helpers. Fred will get some Probation Department workers. Jim offered to help also. Linda will have her motor home set up for workers to use.

Parking Reservations – Bruce: There are 47 so far. Will set up spaces like last year. It was discussed who could help from the handlers.

Venders – Linda: We have 7 vendors signed so far. Three more are coming and paying day-of. Then there is one more that has expressed interest. That makes 11, a lot more than last year.

Grounds – Fred: probation crew will assist.

Pooper-Scoopers – Fred: contacted Foothill 4H will provide services.

EMT – Fred: Jennifer Mundy has changed her mind about being at the show. Linda will Email Florence to get ruling about not needing a fulltime EMT because the hospital is so close. Charlene said that there are several exhibitors that are EMT’s.

Vet – Bruce: Wes Whittman will be the vet.

Eye Clinic – Bruce: Dr. Olin won’t be coming even though he said he would. We were not able to get another vet to do it.

Golf Carts – Linda: We will have 4 this year, 2 are clubs, one is Linda’s, and one is Fred’s. One will be dedicated to Obedience, and one to Hospitality.

Trophies – Holly: She will not be at the Show but will deliver them.

Hospitality – Pat: Breakfast - Will have the usual plus donuts this year. Lunches – There will be Deli trays and soups plus salads and assorted cookies. Judges will have lunch breaks from 1:30 TO 1:30. So food will be available throughout that time spand. Coffee will be provided up front during Groups and Best in Show.

Judges Gifts – Pat: Pat is embroidering the judge’s names on the bags. All the contents will be put in next week.

Flowers/Decorations – Linda: Nancy was unable to attend tonight. She will be at the Fairgrounds on Friday to decorate.

Educational Booth – Linda: Leeman’s will do it again this year.

Ring Signs – Fred: We have new number ring sings this year.

Money Takers – Linda: We need more club members to take money this year.

Judging Program – Linda: They will be sent to her and she will give them out when she receives them.

Dress Code – Linda: Members should not wear clothing with Club insignias on them. We should wear dressier cloths in Club colors. We may wear our name tags.

 

Policy Manual – Mailed to all Members in the September/October issue of Howler. The date revised will be 10-20-2003.

Obedience Graduation – October 15, 2003

Intermediate – Cherie: We had 6 graduates.

CGC – Linda: We had 8 graduates.

Puppy – Cherie: We had 11 graduates.

Everyone hung around for a long time after Graduation and just talked and enjoyed the evening.

Next session will be in the Manzanita Building and will start on January 14, 2004. Puppy, CGC, Rally and Conformation will be offered.

Jo-Ann asked to have business cards made up for Club members to hand out to people that we meet or see new puppy owners.

Holiday Dinner – Linda: The Dinner will be on December 15 at 6:00 PM at the Peppery Gar and Brill. It was approved by the Board of Directors to charge a fee of $12.50 for Members, $7.50 for children(underaged) that are in the family membership plan. Non-members may come for $20. There will be a no-host bar. The menu will be the Peppery Style Buffet/Grill. Invitations will be going out after the Big Show. We will have the usual gift exchange or steal with a $20 gift brought for each person if you wish to participate.

Letter of Resignation -Linda read Lindsay’s letter of resignation.

Our equipment must be removed by October 31, 2003.

Fred has permission to put the trailers on land owned by the Humane Society. All of the agility equipment will be put in storage.

Upcoming Events – Linda:

Hangtown KC will be hosting an AKC B/OB Match on Sunday, December 14, 2003.

NADAC/ASCA Agility Trial – Linda: New location will be back to Summerville’s baseball field on June 12 & 12, 2004. Linda will be Trial Secretary and Bruce will be Trial Chair.

We lost the dates for both the June and the September Trials at the Fairgrounds. We went elsewhere. Fred is looking into getting the September AKC Trial at Standard Park.

The host at the Fairgrounds has been put on probation for the way he treats people there. Hopefully he will behave for our Big Show

Nominating Committee – Mary: The committee was comprised of Mary, Nancy, and Sydney. The only position that was open was for the Board. Carol Frazier was nominated.

The Officers are Linda, President, Bruce, VP, Cherie, Secretary, Fred, Treasurer, which were two year terms.

At the November meeting, nominations may be made from the floor.

The November meeting will be at Linda’s.

Brags –

Mary/Al & Fella – 2 First Places with perfect scores at Davis DTC in Novice in AKC.

He got a 2nd and a 3rd Place at Del Valle also. He is ready to move to Open in AKC.

Carol & Emmy – Finished the Rally Obedience Class.

Jim & Emmy - Got a Q in Novice Tunnelers, and two 1st Places and Q’s in Novice B Regular at Laguna Seca. But had the most fun at the beach after the Trial.

Bruce & Velvet – she had her picture in the AKC Gazette.

Jo-Ann & Jed – 1st place and a Q at Laguna Seca in NADAC/ASCA.

Ann & Holly – Got her MXJ Title at Sacrament DTC and her 6th Double Q towards her MACH.

Sydney & Miles – Got a Q in Open Jumpers at Del Valle. Got 2nd Place in Rally Obedience Graduation.

Sydney 7 Tess – Got a Q and 3rd Place in Open Preferred Standard

Patti & Stryder – Got 1st Place in Novice B JWW at Del Valle.

Linda & Pandi – 1st Place and Q in Open Preferred Standard and 2nd Place in Open Preferred JWW at Del Valle.

Linda won a Booster Bath at the Dobie Nationals in Colorado.

Linda’s new puppy "Munki" Was born on 10-4-03.

Cherie & Moon – Got her Outstanding Novice Tunnelers Title.

Showed off her 2000 Point Award Trophy from NADAC. Also had her Triple Superior Elite Plaque and her 2 Plaques for Moon’s 2nd and 3rd NATCH’s from NADAC.
