General Membership Meeting – May 19, 2003 President Linda Grant called the meeting of the Sierra-Tuolumne Kennel Club to order at 6:00 pm. This months meeting was held at the home of JoAnn and Jerry Gritz Members present were: Linda Grant, Cherie Gessford, Lindsay Stark, Bruce Bertholf, Mary & Al Kennedy, Patti Martlew, Sydney Seiver, Jo Ann Gritz , Carol and Jim Frazier, Ann Brown, Nancy Wyllie, Fred and Pat Helmbold Guests Present: Rebekah and Lewis Mastro
PRESIDENT’S REPORT-Linda: Thank you to all those that showed up for the work party on May 12th. The equipment was checked and things are ready to go for the trial. Board meeting is scheduled for June 4th at Linda’s house at 5:30 pm. As always, guests are welcome. NEW MEMBERS: Rebekah and Louis Mastro were voted in. Members Showing: A secret ballot was taken on the issue of members being able to show at our conformation show. The tally was 14-2 against showing. Members will not be allowed to show their dogs. SECRETARY’S REPORT-Lindsay: No report Breeders Directory: Please get all your updates to Lindsay when they are available. TREASURER’S REPORT-Fred: Updated report was shared. COMMITTEE UPDATES OBEDIENCE-Linda: Graduation was on May 14th. Next session is June 11. OBEDIENCE, PUPPY-Lindsay: 9 puppies graduated AGILITY-Linda: New 12 basic students. No intermediate. Club fun runs will follow class on Thursdays SUNSHINE-Holly: No report PUBLICITY: NADAC trial information has been given to the paper and is posted on Mymotherlode.com MEMBERSHIP: Pat’s handed out updated pages for new members. TROPHIES: No report
UPCOMING EVENTS NADAC trial June 14-15, 2003 Premium is online. JoAnn will handle hospitality at the show. Others will help with shopping. Participant handouts will most likely be American themed bandanas. Club members submitted their lunch orders and major jobs were confirmed. Nancy and Pat will once again handle the score table. Mary will be selling cloths on Sunday, anyone want to do Saturday? Our put together party will be at Linda’s June 8 at 9:30 am at Linda’s. Judges dinner is at Snowshoe in Standard. Lasagne buffet for all workers.
Agility Seminar Sept. 5 – Limited to 12 teams. 5 hour seminar from 2-7pm. This will be offered as part of a weekend package so will not be open to club members until after the trail closing date. Trial workers can audit for free without their dogs. AKC agility September 6-7, 2003 No report Big Show November 1-2, 2003- Linda has confirmed all judges and is now awaiting AKC approval.
NEW BUSINESS: Please write down your brags to be turned in to the secretary. This will hopefully ensure that they are recorded correctly. Mary Kennedy has taken it upon herself to do a membership drive. She was able to get 2 people to consider joining the club at graduation. Way to go Mary! BRAGS Bruce and Velvet (Doberman): Woodland-earned BIS both days. Utah-BIS one day, Chino-BIS one day, May 16th –BISS. Velvet now has 9 BISS and 5 BISCheri and Moon (Australian Shepherd): Earned Novice Tunnelers title Cheri and Mori (Australian Shepherd): Earned his Outstanding Elite Regular Agility, and jumpers titles. He is ¾ of the way to earning his NATCH. Sydney and Miles (Border Collie): First place in JWW in Elk Grove 4/27 JoAnn and Sunshine (Aussie): 1st in Novice Preferred standard and JWW in Elk Grove 4/27 Fred and Abbey (Berner): 2nd place in the intermediate class even after missing 3 classes Mary and Fella (Golden): 1st place in the intermediate class with a score of 125. This was a 95 point improvement over last time!!! Jim/Carol and Emmy (Golden): Has been going to fun runs at VAST. She had 2 clean runs in jumpers and ran a standard course in 30 seconds. Ann and Holly (Golden): Earned her 5th double Q and her 9th AXJ leg at the NORCAL trial. (Missed from last month) Ann and Libby (Golden): At her first weekend showing in conformation Libby to 1st place in the 9-12 puppy bitch class. They defeated some professional handlers and long time breeder/handlers. Mastro family and Chip (Boston): Chip is recovering nicely from his hip injuries. He is now able to move about in a slightly bigger crate and will progress to a small room soon. The Mastro’s also successfully graduated the CGC class with Libbie and Roxz Congratulations to all of the club members. It was M/S/P by Nancy and Lindsay to adjourn at 7:20 pm.
