General Meeting Minutes

March 19, 2001

Club President Stu Galka called the meeting of the Sierra-Tuolumne Kennel Club to order at 6:00 p.m. Sydney and Mark Seiver hosted this month’s meeting. Members present were: Stu and Sherry Galka, Linda Grant, Cherie Gessford, Darcy Zimmerman, Bruce Bertholf, Lindsay Stark, Ann Brown, Dorothy Folley, Jo & Jim Mitchell, Minou Alexander, and Augie Panelli.

Treasurer’s Report: Sherry provided a report on the status of the Checking, Savings and CD accounts.

Secretary’s Report: Linda - Received a fax from Summit Specialities regarding Long Distance service. Upcoming shows/etc: Stockdog clinic – Galt, 4/6, 7, 8; Spring Fun Match for Mixed & All breeds, Rancho Cordova, 4/8; Dobie Club of Sacto , Conf & Obed, 5/19; Lake County KC, All & Mixed Obed & Conf, 5/19; American Family Pet Expo, Sacto, 9/21-23; German Shepherd Specialty in Carmichael, 4/28-29

Obedience: Sherry – 40 students graduated, with 10 receiving Therapy Dogs International, Inc.; and 10 intermediate; 17 puppies graduated.

Next session 4/11/01, 5:15 for Basic/CGC (11 signed up), and Puppy (2 signed up); 4:00 Intermediate (0 signed up)

Agility: Linda – some interest, no signups. 5:00 at Galka’s, Thursdays, followed by Fun Runs for Club Members. In May, Fun Runs will be at the field, with a $3 per person fee to cover the costs.

Education: Carol – no report (vacationing in Australia!)

Publicity: Sydney – No report

Therapy: Jo: 15 dogs in the TDI program. Times for Beverly visits will be 11 a.m. Sonora Community will be 2nd Thursday of the month.

Historian: Cherie – hosting next month’s meeting and new binders will be available to view

Sunshine: Jo – will be new Sunshine Chair.

Membership: Lindsay – If you want a membership booklet mailed, there will be a $1 postage fee.

Old Business

Community Dog Walk: Lindsay – unable to pull it off this year and has turned over the project Shari Robert.

Upcoming Club Events:

ASCA/NADAC Agility Trial – June 9/10

Work Party – Galka’s, Saturday, May 5th, 9:00 a.m. We need to move the AKC equipment out and put the NADAC in and paint, clean and check everything. Both Clubs have approved the sanctioning, judges are booked, premium lists are copied. "Put Together Party" at Linda’s March 25th.

AKC Agility Trial – Sherry (September 8/9):

Trying to secure an additional judge. The Kiwanis will be food vendor both agility trials. The Year 2002 Agility Judges will be Ann McQuillen and Tammy Weibe

AKC Conformation Show – Sherry (November 10/11)

Trophies – Lindsay: Trophy list to be passed around. Prices are from $5 on up, so pick out something, or share with another person!

Hospitality: Jo – Lindsay will mix the batter for the Sourdough pancakes. Augie will do the lunch, both days, tentative menu is Stew and Chicken Cordon Bleu.

Security: Jim

Parking: Gordon, Bruce, Gary

Committee Chairs requested to not accept the offer of having Exchange Students assist in any of the areas.

Brags:

Linda and Dexi (Aussie): 1st AKC Novice Jumpers leg. I also own him 100% (not co-owned with breeder)

Linda and Pandi (Aussie): 1st in Open in ASCA Altered Dog Class, and Altered Reserve Winners Bitch

Linda and Tali (Aussie): 2nd place in AKC Novice Jumpers and Title

Cherie and Mori (Aussie): Has his Novice Jumpers W/Weaves title in AKC

Cherie and Moon (Aussie): Has 5 more legs towards NATCH, and 29 Agility titles

Lindsay and Becca (Corgi): Rec’d NADAC Novice Agility title

Bruce and Velvet (Dobe): Has a new van and owns her 100% also

Sydney: has a new car

Darcy and Annie (Golden X): has NADAC Outstanding Open Jumpers title. Also, Astro has been adopted out successfully. And recently had knee surgery and recuperating well.
