General Membership Meeting – March 17, 2003

 

President Linda Grant called the meeting of the Sierra-Tuolumne Kennel Club to order at 6:00 pm. This months meeting was held at the home of Mary and Al Kennedy.

Members present were: Linda Grant, Cherie Gessford, Lindsay Stark, Bruce Bertholf, Mary & Al Kennedy, Patti Martlew, Sydney Seiver, Jo Ann Gritz , Fred and Pat Helmbold, Minou Alexander, Nancy Wyllie, Carol Frasier.

Guests Present: Arline and Bob Proebsting, Rebekah and Lewis Mastro

 

PRESIDENT’S REPORT-Linda:

There was a vacancy on the board that was filled by Mary Kennedy. Since then another vacancy has arisen. The board had a short meeting prior to this general meeting to discuss candidates and will reconvene after to fill the vacancy.

There will be a full board meeting at Linda Grant’s home on April 1st at 5:30

SECRETARY’S REPORT-Lindsay: Notices for fun matches were shared.

Breeders Directory: Please get all your updates to Lindsay when they are available.

TREASURER’S REPORT-Fred: Update for the past 2 months.

COMMITTEE UPDATES

OBEDIENCE-Linda: 19 graduated from CGC. 5 from Intermediate.

OBEDIENCE, PUPPY-Lindsay: 18 puppies graduated

**New classes start Wednesday 3/24 at 6:00 pm

AGILITY-Linda: New classes will start on April 24. There will be a work party at the STAR field to set up the equipment on Thursday April 17 at 5:00 pm. Bring your dog and we might be able to have a little practice afterwards.

CONFORMATION: The O’Brien’s will not be able to continue classes until possibly May. If you are interested there are drop in classes in Escalon at the Covenant Church on Mariposa Street.

SUNSHINE-Holly: No report.

PUBLICITY: Bad news…the paper will no longer list our classes in the Weekender as they say it is not entertainment. Sydney has placed ads in the Check it Out section.

MEMBERSHIP: Pat handed out new pages to update the phone books contact her if you need any updates for your book and cannot get to a meeting.

Bob and Arline Proebsting were voted into membership

TROPHIES: Holly showed samples of local products that will be used in the gift bags for the big show. Pat will embroider our logo and the group placings on the bags. Best in Show, High in Trial and High Combined will still be glass etchings from Shirley Wilson

 

 

UPCOMING EVENTS

NADAC trial June 14-15, 2003 Premium will be available soon. We need someone to volunteer to coordinate Hospitality. Please call Linda or Lindsay if you can help.

***A work party to get all of the equipment ready for the show will be held on May 12 at 4:30 pm at the STAR training field. Pizza to follow. Please do not bring your dogs***

Agility Seminar Sept. 5

AKC agility September 6-7, 2003 Had to hire a new judge as Craig French retired. Anne Platt will now judge for us.

Big Show November 1-2, 2003- 2 are still needed and Linda is working on that.

Committee heads will be needing helpers so please contact them if you would like to help in their department. If you don’t volunteer, they will have to draft you :~) (Really, they will!)

NEW BUSINESS:

It was M/S/P by Arline and Nancy to continue with the larger monthly donation of $150.00 to help feed the animals at the Humane Society.

Arline suggested that since there is no organized conformation class right now, that we could all get together and help each other. We will meet after the obedience classes on Wednesdays.

 

BRAGS

Bruce and Velvet (Doberman): Velvet is doing great on her campaign. At last count she had won 9 of 11 shows she was entered in.

Cheri and Moon (Australian Shepherd): Earned her Novice Touch and Go title. Has a total of 45 agility titles.

Cheri and Mori (Australian Shepherd): Earned Elite Tunnelers is over ½ way to his NATCH and earned more Q’s than Moon at Starfleet.

Bruce and Dexi (Australian Shepherd): Q’d at first Herding trial in Tulare.

Sydney and Miles (Border Collie): Fresno, got a Second and a Third in Novice standard and his second Nov. Jumpers leg with a First place.

Carol and Emma (Golden): Got a perfect run at the Starfleet match last weekend!

Nancy Wyllie: Her son graduated form Nuclear Power School and will now start work on reactors-Yikes!

JoAnn Gritz, tagged on to say that she was his first grade teacher so helped get him started.

Lewis and Rebekah Mastro: Newest addition to the family-Chip a Boston Terrier (tooooo cute!)
