Monthly General Meeting Minutes

June 18, 2001

The meeting of the Sierra-Tuolumne Kennel Club was called to order by President Stu Galka at 6:00. This month’s meeting was hosted by Fred & Pat Helmbold.

Members present were: Stu and Sherry Galka, Cherie Gessford, Fred & Pat Helmbold, Ann Brown, Darcy Zimmerman, Sydney Seiver, Mary, Holly & Mark Azevedo, Jim & Jo Mitchell, Patty Martlew, Carol & Gordon Biederman, Dorothy Folley.

The planned program with AJ Ford & His Drug Dog, has to be postponed due to a drug bust in the County.

Treasurer’s Report – Sherry: Reported on the status of the Club’s Checking, Savings and Certificates of Deposit.

Secretary’s Report – Linda: Thank you letters written to Skeeter Alderson for the donation of the orange barrier fencing, and to Molly Mathiesen for her years of work for the Club. Molly has resigned due to personal needs.

Committee Reports:

Obedience – Sherry: Classes will be starting June 20th at 5:15 p.m. So far there are 6 Puppy, 26 Basic, 8 Intermediate (at 4:00), and 8 for the Mi-Wok class.

Agility – Linda: Only 4 students have signed up, so the decision was to not have a session this time. The Thursday FunRuns are continuing.

Education – Carol: No report

Publicity – Sydney: Union Democrat had Sydney’s dog Tess advertising our ASCA/NADAC Agility trial.

Therapy – Jo: Therapy dogs will be walking in the 4th of July Columbia Parade. Sherry also mentioned that a Tuolumne General Adult Day Care client has a beautiful raffle that will be raffled off. Tickets are available at the Day Care Center

Historian – Cherie: No report

Humane Society – Stu: The Board of Directors made a motion to donate $100 per month of dog food to the Humane Society. Augie Panelli will help provide the food. It was M/S/P by Lindsay/Sherry that the Club provides the $100 per month food donation. Food will be given to only in-house dogs.

Sunshine – Jo: A card was sent to Augie in condolence of his mother’s passing.

Membership – Lindsay: No report

Upcoming Events

AKC Agility Trial – September 8 – 9

Premiums are available. Raffle prizes are being accepted. The Club will be donating an Aluminet Shade cloth, agility jump, and the Popula’s will be providing an x-pen through Augie.

AKC Conformation Show – Sherry: November 10/11

Premium has been faxed to MBF last week.

Money still being accepted for trophy donations.

Dog Walk – It was decided that the Club will assist with the Calaveras Dog Walk this year.

Brags:

Jo and Nikki (Mini Schnauzer): Achievied her TDIA by having 50 visits in one year.

Ann and Holly (Golden Retriever): In Open B – 3 1st, 2 2nd, 2 High Scoring w/ Tracking Degree, 1 High Scoring in Sporting Group, 9th UDX leg, 1 more OTCH point, High in Trial with 199.

Cherie and Mori (Aussie): Has ASCA and NADAC Novice B Regular and Gamblers titles

Cherie and Moon (Aussie): Obtained 11 legs in last 2 trials

Cherie and Mica (Aussie): Was relinquished in very poor shape back to Cherie. Mica was from a litter Cherie bred.

Sydney and Tess (Aust Cattle Dog): At our Trial, achieved 3 "Q"s, 1 4th place in Novice Jumpers, 2 1st places in Standard Novice, and achieved Novice A title

Patty and Holli (Aussie): at our Trial, 1st place in Standard (Qualifying), and 2nd place in Jumpers (Qualifying)

Holly and Kody (Pembroke Welsh Corgi): 7 Q’s out of 8 runs (!!!). 2 titles – 1 in Gamblers and 1 in Regular

Darcy and Annie (Golden X): 1st Standard leg in Open in over a year.

Darcy and Meg (Canine X): Novice Gamblers title, Open Jumpers title and Open Standard title

Darcy and Luna (Border Collie): 1st in Novice Jumpers in Carson City

Darcy and Miscellaneous info: Has another Border collie rescue named Oliver. Tippy, the female Border collie has been placed in a very good home.

Sherry and Schoena (German Shepherd): 2nd leg towards CDX. And obtained a 1st place Veteran in Novice Standard at our trial.

Fred and Grendahl (Bernese Mountain Dog): At Placerville, achieved 1st and Reserve Winners Bitch, and in the Futurity, placed 4th!

It was M/S/P by Fred/Cherie to Adjourn at 7:30 p.m.

Next month’s meeting will be at Darcy Zimmerman’s home in Vallecito.
