Sierra-Tuolumne Kennel Club, Inc. Monthly Meeting Minutes July 16, 2001 The meeting of the Sierra-Tuolumne Kennel Club was called to order at 6:10 p.m. at the home of Darcy Zimmerman. Members present were: Stu and Sherry, Cherie Gessford, Fred and Pat Helmbold, Bruce, Lindsay, Jim and Jo Mitchell, Dorothy Folley, Christiana, Patty, Gordon and Carol, Nancy Wyllie, Sydney and Ann Brown. Guests present were Peggy Rissel (Lab X). Treasurer’s Report – Sherry: Gave a complete report on the Club’s financial health. Secretary’s Report – Linda: Letters to TC Animal Control and Humane Society offering free classes for fall obedience. Flyers for Fall obedience and September agility trial have been sent. Using a new Stamps.com program to mail out Club business. It provides a concise report of postage usage. Committee Reports: Obedience – Sherry: Graduation will be 8/15 starting at 4:00 for the Advanced Beginners. Next session will be August 29 at 4:00 for Adv Beginners, 5:15 for CGC, and Aug 30 for MiWuk Class (11 students). The Puppy classes will be starting 9/5 at 5:00. Agility – Linda: Fun Runs continuing a Summerville until 8/9 . Education – Carol: AJ Ford and his drug dog "Riggs" will be attending the September meeting. Publicity – Sydney: Obedience information to paper. Therapy - Jo: Camp LaHonda visit was last week, and Wednesday of this week. The Kennel Club again marched in another parade and we all got 1st place ribbons. We have 19 TDI members. Sherry noted that there is a quilt with Boats on it being raffled off at Tuolumne General Adult Day Care/Long Term Care. Tickets are 6 for $5. Any leftover material or yarn would greatly appreciated. After discussion, it was M/S/P by Nancy/others to purchase a sewing machine for the Tuolumne County Long Term/Day Care. Purchase price to be under $100.00 (note: sewing machine was purchased at Wal-Mart by Jo and has been delivered). Historian – Cherie: no report Sunshine – Jo: no report Membership – Lindsay: no report Upcoming Club Events: AKC Agility Trial – Sherry Work party will be Sunday August 19th at the Galka’s. Due to a conflict on Monday the 20th caused by Stu & Sherry attending the Gary Wilkes Clicker training, and myself being out of town on business, the August General Meeting will be a pre-trial meeting held at 9:00 at the Galka’s on the 19th (before the work party). Raffle – Nancy accepted raffle prizes. Score table – Sharlene, Pat, Kathy, Dorothy and Dale Olson Hospitality – Jim & Jo Mitchell Chief Course Builder – Cherie Gessford Scribes/Timers – Fred and Gordon AKC Conformation Show – Sherry Trophies Invoices have been sent out. Brags: Ann and Holly: UDX on June 23rd in less than 3 months. 2 more 1st places in Utility B for a total of 3; 1st place in Open B (now has all the required 1st places necessary for OTCH), 3 more High Combined for a total of 6, 4 Highest Scoring Tracking dog awards, 1 Highest Scoring Agility Dog award, 2 Highest Scoring Sporting Dog Awards, tied for HIT with a 199 in Open B; has 48 OTCH points as of the July meeting, and in the the middle of all of this obedience, she earned her 7th MX leg in agility also! Sherry and Schoena – 4th place and her CDX degree Patty and Holli – Hovice A Jumpers title in AKC Fred and his Bernese Mtn Dogs: At Mammoth they got 1st place in the Berner Parade with "Seasons of Mammoth". Fred had photos. Grendahl got 2nd on Saturday and Reserve Winners Bitch on Sunday at Carmel. Jo and Nikki – received her TDIA certificate in the mail and it has been hung 1-1/2 feet off the floor so that Nikki can view it comfortably! Bruce and Velvet – Championship at Carmel!! (Velvet bought the champagne that Bruce shared at the meeting). No General Meeting in August, only pre-trial meeting. Next General meeting will be at my home on September 17th. Possibility that AJ Ford and Riggs will be able to attend for the program. Meeting adjourned (M/S/P by Jo/Jim) at 7:25 p.m. to Chicken Enchiladas.
