Sierra-Tuolumne Kennel Club General Meeting Minutes January 15, 2001 The meeting of the Sierra-Tuolumne Kennel Club was called to order by Club President Stu Galka at 6:01 p.m. This month’s meeting was held at the home of Ed and Nancy Wyllie. Members present were Stu & Sherry Galka, Linda Grant, Cherie Gessford, Don Leonard, Darcy, Jim and Jo Mitchell, Holly Azevedo, Ann Brown, Lindsay, Fred & Pat Helmbold, Sydney Seiver, Martha Johnson, Bruce Bertholf, Carol & Gordon Biedermann. Guests present were Mary Alford and Jane Azevedo, Minou Alexander, and Mary Yarch. Members present voted in Minou Alexander and Mary Yarch. Welcome! Treasurer’s Report – Sherry: She presented the Year End Report to the members present. The Register will be given to Fred to audit for the Club. Sherry also gave a breakdown on the profits and losses of the 2000 Events the Club held. Secretary’s Report – Linda: Received complimentary e-mails regarding our Big Show. Thank you letters were sent to all of our vendors; to the Humane Society & Animal Control offering a free lesson to those in need; and a Thank you note to an exhibitor who donated back her Rally entry fee even after being unable to attend. Sherry also provided some letters she had received. The Club has also purchased Front Page 2000, a web-publishing program, to use in creating an updated version of the Club’s Webster. Plans are to have the "Howler", premium lists, etc. on-line, which would save mailing costs. Committee Reports: Obedience – Sherry: CGC - 32 pre-registered. Class will be at the Manzanita Bldg, January 17 at 4:00 p.m. Helpers needed at 3:30 to help handle money, students, etc. Puppy – 10 pre-registered, with Molly and Lindsay instructing. Stu announced that the Club has purchased a new PA system consisting of 2 new headsets and receivers. Stu also announced that the Humane Society is asking for volunteers to help walk dogs, clean kennels, etc. The volunteers set the hours. Education – Carol: She will look into having a Police dog demonstration for an upcoming meeting. Publicity – Sydney: She has been able to get spots on the local radio station and in the "Weekend" regarding the obedience classes. Therapy – Jo/Carol: The Club’s renewal for 2001 has been sent in. Individuals please let Carol/Jo know so that she can keep up the list. The list of places to go is growing, so contact Jo/Carol for info. Historian – Cherie: Holiday party photos will be added to the yearbooks. Membership – Lindsay: 2nd notice on dues will be sent Feb 1st. Calls will be made to those who are delinquent on or about 2/11. March 1st will be the date that delinquents will be dropped from the Club roster. New membership books will be handed out at the March meeting. Breeder’s Directory – Sherry: These are available for $15 or $20 with preprinted dividers, both suitable for a 3-ring binder.

Upcoming Events: American Temperament Test Society Test (Sherry/Linda): Tentative date is May 26th. It will be held at Big Basin Training in Modesto. Fees will be $35 for pre-entry, $45 day of. Any breed is allowed, except Mixed Breed must be spayed/neutered. More details, firm date, will be forthcoming. Janice DeMello Private Lessons – Sherry: If we have eight people who want a private lesson for $75 an hour, Janice will come to Sonora the same weekend she goes to Livermore. She will notify Sherry of the date. ASCA/NADAC Agility Trial – Linda: Approved by NADAC, paperwork pending at ASCA. Lindsay will be trial secretary. The Club has purchased a computer program (FileMaker Pro) to handle the entries, catalog, etc. AKC Agility Trial – Sherry (9/8-9): Fees will be $20/$10, with a discount for Novice A only at $45 weekend package. AKC Conformation Show – Sherry (11/10-11) Grounds rent increasing by $50 a building, up $300; RV charges will be $5 per rig (to the Fairgrounds); the green drapes will be available to us; entry fees will increase to $22/15 with no discount; parking fees to stay at $3; with RV’s at $25 per night. The vendor’s fees have increased also. The Ribbons will be changed/improved (Best in Show, High in Trial, etc.) by using Club colors. Trophy Chairs (Lindsay/Sharlene) with Linda and Sherry will be meeting with Shirley Wilson Rose to get the trophy selections going. Linda will schedule the appointment. Fred requested Club approval to borrow/loan the ring stanchions for the Northern California Bernese Mtn Dog Handling Seminar, which will be held on February 24, & 25 in Benicia. It was M/S/P by Jo/Linda to let Fred have the stanchions Brags: Sherry and Schoena (GSD): Have their Companion Dog degree in Novice B Obedience. Also, Shiloh and Schoena were listed in the "Aussie Times" under show results for obedience Cherie and Moon (Aussie): #3 Aussie in ASCA Agility in the U.S. Also has Outstanding title in Elite Veterans Jumpers Cherie and Mori (Aussie): In AKC agility has 5 Q’s out of 6 runs, with 2 1st places. Carol/Gordon and Rosie (Golden Retriever): Rosie has her TDIA certificate. Also Carol wrote up an article for the Therapy Dogs International, Inc. magazine. Darcy and Meg (Aussie X): Has her ASCA/NADAC Novice Jumpers, Novice Regular and Open Jumpers titles. Darcy and Annie (Golden X): Has two legs towards her Outstanding Open title. Ann and Holly (Golden Retriever): Obtained her Utility Dog (UD) degree with three 195.5 scores, with 2 of those 1st places. Bruce and Velvet (Doberman): At Turkey Circuit got a 1st for 2 points on Friday, 4 points on Sunday, at San Mateo got 1 point and Best Opposite Sex. Velvet needs 3 points for her Championship. Linda and Pandi (Aussie) 1st in Novice B at Del Valle in Agility Linda and Tali (Aussie): 2nd in Novice B at Del Valle (behind Pandi), 3rd in Nov B in JWW, 2 legs each at Fresno and 1 leg in NADAC at Hayward (all agility). Linda and Dexi (Aussie): Ran 1st agility fun match and did 19 obstacles twice! Then at San Mateo got 1st in Open Blue, then Winners Dog, then Best of Winners, and then Best of Breed for 4 points (Conformation).
