Sierra - Tuolumne Kennel Club General Meeting Minutes February 19, 2001 President Stu Galka called the meeting of the Sierra-Tuolumne Kennel Club to order at 6:00 p.m. Jim and Jo Mitchell, Columbia, hosted this month’s meeting. Members present were: Stu and Sherry Galka, Linda Grant, Cherie Gessford, Bruce Bertholf, Lindsay Stark, Vickie and Dennis Tarap, Don Leonard, Carol and Gordon Biederman, Fred and Pat Helmbold, Sydney Seiver and Molly Mathiesen. The members present unanimously voted in Mike and Sheri Robert, Jamestown, who have an Alaskan Malamute. The Roberts are presently doing Therapy work, and working on a Dog Park in Twain Harte. Welcome! Treasurer’s Report – Sherry: Sherry presented the Club’s financial report. She also provided an update on the Mike Reed Memorial at the Humane Society. The Club purchased a dog run/kennel and members may donate towards it in Mike’s name. Also, Sherry indicated that the 2001 Breeder’s Directories are available for purchase. Secretary’s Report – Linda: Only correspondence was an invitation for the Club to attend the Grand Opening of the New Signature Stadium 10 Theatre on March 1st. I also announced that the website has a new "look". Committee Reports: bedience: Graduation will be March 7th at the Fairgrounds. Microchipping will be available at 5:00 p.m. The CGC classes will start at 3:00 p.m., Puppy classes will start at 4:00. The Intermediate/Rally Class will have Lesson #8 after all graduations. Hot Dogs and finger foods, plus Therapy Testing will be available. Next Obedience sessions start April 11 at 5:00 p.m. Forms are available on the website (www.stkc.org) Education – Carol: She is trying to line up A.J.Ford and his Narcotics dog for a presentation at the June 18th meeting. Publicity – Sydney: Everyone complimented Sydney on her diligence in getting the word out on Kennel Club activities. Therapy – Jo/Carol: There are 15 dogs presently in the TDI Program. Historian – Cherie: Has organized more of the historical information for the Club. Membership – Lindsay: Handed out 2001 Membership booklets. Upcoming Events: ASCA/NADAC Agility Trial – June 9-10/2001. Sanctioning approved through both Clubs. Premium list being prepared by Lindsay. AKC Agility Trial, September 8-9, 2001: Lindsay is accepting raffle items. AKC Conformation Show, November 10/11, 2001: Trophy donation list was passed around. Sherry has placed a deposit on the trophies to Shirley Wilson. Judges are confirmed. Fred will try and contact a replacement Towing Service. New Business: · Dog Park in Twain Harte: Jim Peterson is working on a 2.5 mile trail. Sheri Roberts is working with him.· Dog Blood Bank – there was some discussion regarding the need for a local blood bank. Molly Mathiesen, Vet Technician, indicated that at the present there is not a need.· Agility Equipment – it was M/S/P by Cherie/Linda to purchase the additional 3 contact items for the Club (A-frame, teeter, dogwalk).· Dog Walk for the Humane Society Spay & Neuter Clinic – Lindsay and Sydney will chair the committee and talk to Karen Kaua who organized the Calaveras Dog Walk for their local Humane Society.Brags : Jim Mitchell bragged that his "Wife" Jo went back to work. Cherie bragged for Linda that her dog, Dexi, Aussie, was on TV when he was at the Cow Palace show. It was M/S/P by Bruce and Jim to adjourn to Enchilada Casserole at 7:20 p.m. Next month’s meeting – Mark and Sydney Seiver, 22109 Parrotts Ferry Road, Columbia.
