Class information
The Sierra-Tuolumne Kennel Club offers several 8-week sessions throughout the year. Classes are held on Wednesday evenings at the Mother Lode Fairgrounds in Sonora California.
The Club offers the following classes. Please note that not all classes are offered each session.
Puppy, which is for puppies which have their first set of shots and are approximately 9 - 18 weeks of age. This class teaches good puppy ownership, helps answer some of your questions, and develops great social skills for the puppy. This is a great start before going on to the Basic Class. (The puppy classes are 7-week sessions)
Basic/Canine Good Citizen, which offers an American Kennel Club Canine Good Citizen Certificate upon Graduation. The Basic course is for dogs approximately 6 months of age or older.
Intermediate - This class will be for those students who would like to possibly pursue an obedience degree on their dog or prepare their dog for the Rally class. All AKC competition Novice obedience class exercises will be taught. Some Novice level Rally exercises will be introduced. Class size is limited to 15 dogs. Goal will be to prepare the students and their dogs to compete at either the Sub-Novice or Novice level in competitions. Pre-requisite is a Basic obedience class either through the Sierra-Tuolumne Kennel Club or another training facility. This class is offered infrequently, so please contact us for further information.
Rally - This class prepares you to enter an American Kennel Club Rally competition. It is the next step after either taking the Basic Class, or the Intermediate session. Rally is a new event with AKC and is becoming very popular! Be sure to pre-register for this class, since it fills quickly.
Conformation - This class is geared for those students who are interested in showing their dog (or a future dog) in the conformation show ring. It provides a general background for the new exhibitor in the conformation ring. A purebred dog is not necessary, but the dog should be comfortable being handled by others, and non-aggressive towards other dogs. This class is offered infrequently, so please contact us for further information. We must have a minimum of 6 students to hold the class.
Agility - is held during the warm weather months at the Humane Society's upper training field in Jamestown. Dogs should be a minimum of 6 months of age and have completed either a puppy class, a beginning class, or be assessed by the instructors. This class can lead to training for future competitions, or just to give you and your dog more fun things to do together. Classes are limited to 12 students per session. We offer Basic and Intermediate classes, and an advanced class will be offered if there is sufficient interest.
Please Note: The Instruction Application can be used for any of the classes the Sierra-Tuolumne Kennel Club offers. You can fill out the form on your computer and hit "send" and it will be mailed to us. You can then just follow up with a check on the first night of class. You can also print out your form and include it when mailing in your application. You also must have Adobe Acrobat Reader to view and fill in the forms.
Also, the forms may take a few moments to actually appear on your computer screen. Please be patient if you are using non-high speed internet services. For additional information and/or to register, click on the following links:
