President’s Report – Linda – Update on "Big Show"

Final Draft on the Premium List has been received. Needs to be reviewed and sent back to MB-F by August 28th.

Special Committee Meeting set for October 20th for finalization of all assignments, equipment needs, positions, etc.

Treasurer’s Report – Fred

The accounting sheet from January to August was passed around.

Update on September AKC Agility Trial

"Put Together Party" on September 4th, a Thursday, starting at 6:00 PM at Linda’s, with food provided by Club, sides brought by members.

Lindsay reported there were 210 on Saturday, 218 on Sunday as of August 17th. Eight had signed up for the Seminar so far.

Various members are looking into the food option.

From Linda, a big "THANK YOU" for all of those that showed up for the Work Party and the Put Away the next day. We were even entertained by the fire and CDF at Table Mountain.

Set up for Trial at 8:30 AM on Friday, September at the Fairgrounds,

with members setting up their personal setups at noon.

Be there time on Saturday is 6:30 AM.

Seminar time still has to be finalized.

Judges gift to be a $25 gift certificate to Clean Run store and a STKC shirt.

The gift to participants was discussed. It was finally decided to give dog cookies.

It was discussed how to cut costs but still keep the longevity of the show along with the philosophy of gift giving at agility trials.

Update on the Rattlesnake Avoidance Class – Linda

Their website was difficult to get info off of. It will pursued.

 

 

Committee Reports:

Basic Obedience – Linda

Next session starts on Wednesday, August 20th. Already have a few signups.

Need to confirm instructors. We will need to have a week off, because Linda and Bruce will be gone to Dobie Nations, which would fall on Graduation.

Intermediate and Puppy - Cherie

So far, 3 signed up in both.

Conformation Class – Linda

There will be no more classes until January 2004 due to the work and show schedule of Ken O’Brien and Sharlene Craig.

Agility Classes – Linda

We have 4 pre-entries for Beginning and 3 0r 4 for Intermediate so classes will start on Thursday, August 21st at 5:30 PM. We need to reschedule Fun Runs.

Sunshine – Holly

Fred and Mark’s surgeries.

Trophies - Holly

Club members need to pay now to get in Premium, the list was passed around.

Membership Solicitor – Mary

Mary would like a list from instructor from each class on which ones might be good candidates.

Membership Coordinator – Pat

During the year, members can make changes in their books using information posted in the Howler.

Publicity – Sydney

Information put on the radio. Flyers handed out at Responsible Dog Ownership Presentation at the Library. Arlene will make up business cards to hand out to members to hand out to the public.

Education –

Let’s think about what we would like to have for future meetings.

Have Dr. Croom do an accpuncture demonstration.

Have Mike Moffit do a chiropractic demonstration.

Five members went to the Humane Societies Adopt a Puppy Evening.

Sydney did a Responsible Dog Ownership class at the Library.

Historian/Librarian – Cherie

New Business

Ann had tracking flyers.

Linda had agility flyers.

Fred had a sample new ring sign. One bid was over $1000, the other was $516 for all new conformation signs. M/S/V Jim/Bruce/Passed to buy the signs from Sign Pro for the lower bid.

Brags:

Sydney & Tess – third place at Bow Wow Luau in the 36 weave pole challenge.

Linda & Pandi – 2002 USASA Year end awards, # 2 Novice 16" Standard Preferred, and #7 in Novice 16" JWW Preferred.

Carol & Emmy – got her highest score yet in Intermediate Obedience Graduation.

Jim & Emmy – made every contact on her last run at Starfleet Fun Match, with every weave pole in 5 runs. She stayed at his side when Jim fell, and didn’t leave the ring.

Pat Barnes & Ruby Jewell – the new Boston puppy, will be picked up on 8/20.

Jo-Ann & Sunshine –at a CPE Trial, 5 Q’s with a first place in Snookers.

Rebecca & Lori – a new Boston puppy, Lovely Lil Luci Lou, Chips is 100% recovered.

Al and Mary & Fella – did the 36 weave pole Challenge in 15 seconds at Aloha, he now gets his teeth brushed with a Crest Spin Brush, he issues a challenge for any other dog to accomplish that.

Cherie & Moon – another Elite Gamble leg, ranked for 2003 #7 and #8 in nation for Novice by USASA.

Cherie & Mori – first conformation weekend, 1st Open Black, Winners Dog, Best of Winners, Best of Breed, with 2 points, all in ASCA Altered Conformation.
