General Membership Meeting – April 21, 2003

President Linda Grant called the meeting of the Sierra-Tuolumne Kennel Club to order at 6:00 pm. This months meeting was held at the home of Mary and Al Kennedy.

Members present were: Linda Grant, Cherie Gessford, Lindsay Stark, Bruce Bertholf, Mary & Al Kennedy, Patti Martlew, Sydney Seiver, Jo Ann Gritz , Minou Alexander, Carol Frazier, Arline and Bob Proebsting, Ann Brown, Holly Azevedo

Guests Present: Rebekah and Lewis Mastro

 

PRESIDENT’S REPORT-Linda:

At the last board meeting the follwing items were approved for club purchase: PA system for the obedience classes and Adobe Acrobat software for website construction and premiums.

Linda has spent the last week updated the website and has added all the Howler back to November, 2001, all the minutes and the premiums for our upcoming trials.

SECRETARY’S REPORT-Lindsay: Information regarding club members showing their dogs at the conformation show was shared. It is proposed that the club consider trying this for one year to see how it works. Please educate yourself as much as possible on this issue and it will be voted on at the May meeting.

Breeders Directory: Please get all your updates to Lindsay when they are available.

TREASURER’S REPORT-Fred: No report.

COMMITTEE UPDATES

OBEDIENCE-Linda: 21 students in Basic, 9 intermediate

OBEDIENCE, PUPPY-Lindsay: 12 puppies

AGILITY-Linda: New classes will start on May 1. There are tentatively 9 in basic and 4 in intermediate.

SUNSHINE-Holly: A condolence card was sent to the Helmbold’s for their loss of Nancy.

PUBLICITY: If you would like one of your agility pictures to be considered for the paper, please give it to Sydney. Make sure your name is on the back so it can be returned.

MEMBERSHIP: Pat’s computer is out of order. She will provide updated member pages soon.

TROPHIES: Holly is zeroing in on the contents for the gift bags.

 

UPCOMING EVENTS

NADAC trial June 14-15, 2003 Premium is online. JoAnn will handle hospitality at the show. Others will help with shopping. Participant handouts will most likely be American themed bandanas.

Our put together party will be at Linda’s June 7 or 8 TBA.

Judges dinner is at Snowshoe in Standard. Lasagne buffet for all workers.

***A work party to get all of the equipment ready for the show will be held on May 12 at 4:30 pm at the STAR training field. Pizza to follow. Please do not bring your dogs***

Agility Seminar Sept. 5 – Limited to 12 teams. 5 hour seminar from 2-7pm. This will be offered as part of a weekend package so will not be open to club members until after the trail closing date. Trial workers can audit for free without their dogs.

AKC agility September 6-7, 2003 No report

Big Show November 1-2, 2003- 2 are still needed and Linda is working on that.

 

NEW BUSINESS:

Lewis and Rebekah will handle the raffle for the Sept. agility trial.

REMINDER: The dinner donation is now $2.00 per person. Linda has donated a doggy bowl that will be passed around the room while the meeting is on to collect.

BRAGS

Bruce and Velvet (Doberman): Velvet is doing great on her campaign. Bruce got to visit her a few weeks ago and she still remembers him. She is ranked 3rd in Dobermans and 5th in the Nation for dogs defeated.

Sydney and Miles (Border Collie): First place in JWW for his Novice title.

Sydney and Tess (ACD): 2 std. legs and 2 jumpers legs in Novice Preferred.

JoAnn and Sunshine (Aussie): 1st in Novice Regular at Starfleet.

Lindsay and Tobey (PWC): 1st place and 1st leg in Novice JWW at the NORCAL show.
